My Hawaiian Superman

I recently read a blog of an old friend that she had written about her husband. I am now going to follow her lead and write one of my own(not about her husband but mine of course!). Not in any particular order of importance or by any means an exhaustive list:

1. He is generous. Not one person on this planet that has met Mario can say that he wouldn't give them the shirt on his back if they asked with no strings attached.  People, or better said, God's children are what matter most to him not earthly possessions. Mario gives without expecting anything in return. He gives of his time, his talents and even his blu-ray's(which by the way he really cares about), without a single thought of himself.
2. He never questions his faith in God but is always believing. Our years of infertility were hard on both of us but especially for me. I spent many nights crying and wrenching my hair asking God why he had done this to me. Through all my whaling and gnashing of teeth, Mario remained steady in his knowledge that God does not punish us but does all things for our good.  He supported me in my grief but always gently reminded me, sometimes on a daily basis, that God loves me and to have faith in his promises.
3. He is a Master of puns. Definition of a pun: play on words: a humorous use of words that involves a word or phrase that has more than one possible meaning. He can do this on the spot and in any kind of situation. He can't resist a good pun(as his brothers well know). We have spent many nights laughing our heads off dueling puns back and forth.
4. Mario is a rare and glorious Renaissance Man. There are very few subjects he hasn't dabbled in and it is a rare thing indeed when he can't come up with a solution for a problem. He is not cocky about his genius and tries really hard just to be helpful and never condescending.
5.He is the best Dad. Both our kids love and adore their silly, happy, gentle Dad. Mario is so affectionate and never turns down a chance to tickle, smile or just be silly with his kids.
6.  Hardworking. I know this sounds like something you would put on a resume but its true in Mario's case. His job is stressful and exhausting at times but he does it for us. Some days I know he would rather be home than at work but he knows it is important for our family. His sacrifice for us does not go unnoticed by me. I am so grateful for all he does!
7.  He can make a mean lasagna.  I know this may not seem like much but that is only to those who have never tasted his homemade bolognese sauce and the rich, creamy layers of his Christmas Lasagna.
8. He can quote Star Wars word for word. This is to me a sexy skill for which I have grown to love over the years.
9.  A Peacemaker.  A person who brings about or promotes peace (Matt. 5:9; 3 Ne. 12:9). A peacemaker may also be someone who proclaims the gospel (Mosiah 15:11–18). He has brought me peace and joy and my testimony of Christ has grown stronger because of Mario.
10. He actually has a Superman curl. The first time I noticed Mario's curl we had just finished a service project and had gathered for refreshments. He was standing across the room covered in a light sweat and grime from working in an elderly lady's yard. His curl was very prominent and it made my heart skip several beats. To this day the curl makes me weak in the knees. I love my Hawaiian Superman!
